Thanksgiving Week of fun

Hey again!

I'm still alive and well, at least I think I am. Had a pretty fun week met a lot of new people and did some pretty cool things. Me and my companion Elder Lunt this week made some cookies and dropped them off at people's house hoping to try and get in touch with them and see how they are doing. We dropped off cookies at six different houses and heard back from all six of them, which was great, we were able to set up visits with almost all of them and I am excited because that means I get to do some real missionary work coming up soon.

We did a bunch of service this last week, we helped a lady set up Christmas decorations again, which I think is crazy because it's like 85 outside, super clear and sunny, and I setting up Christmas decorations, and this was at 9:00 in the morning. Blew my mind when we were doing it 🀯 The lady we were helping did have some pretty cool decorations which was a plus.

This week was Thanksgiving which was pretty fun. Because of Thanksgiving it was what we called a non-proselyting day which was awesome because that means I didn't have to do any work, and believe me when I say I love not having to do work. We also got to play football with some other missionaries which was pretty fun. Broke some ankles, scored some homeruns, and dunked on a few people as well. So I guess you can say it was a pretty successful football game😜 We had dinner with this awesome family on Thanksgiving who may be the most sarcastic people I have ever met. As you may know I like to roll up my sleeves on some of my shirts because I think the sleeves are too long and I think it looks better. So that being said, the first thing one of them said to me was, I think the 80s called and want their sleeves back, and when he said that I started dying of laughter it made me so happy, and I'm really glad I got to meet a family like that. Also went over to another family's house for dinner and one of their little boys decided he wanted to be a missionary too, which was the cutest thing ever. So he got out a little tie and belt so he could look like me, so I gave him my tag and he's going to be taking over for me from now on soooooooo. Jk but my man Wells was a missionary and it was awesome.

Other than that, my week was pretty mello, hopefully this upcoming week we will be able to start teaching some more people, and I am really excited to have the opportunity the share this gospel. Feel free to reach out to me any day of the week, I can get emails whenever but I can only respond on Mondays and sometimes Tuesdays. It's complicated, but I hope you are all doing well I'd love to hear from all of you if you have the time. Thanks again for reading this far, it was a rather long one today. But stay safe out there and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks
Elder Normandin

I'm a Missionary now

Hey guys how's it going? Hope you are all doing well, because I sure know that I am. It has taken some adjusting to get used to life as a missionary but I'm getting there.

I have been in the mission field for a grand total of 6 days now, it seems like just a week ago that I was home. But that's beside the point, I have done a bunch of service and helped a lot of people and it has been awesome. I have met some pretty cool people in my short time here and am super excited about the people that I will meet here in Arizona.

I am currently in Peoria at the moment, which is just north of Phoenix, and am having to bike everywhere. Lemme tell you my legs are gonna to be ginormous by the time I get home. My first week has been a pretty awesome experience so far, and I'm excited for what's to come.

Elder Normandin's Arrival in the Mission Field

We received this email from his Mission President letting us know Elder Normandin arrived safely in Phoenix.  It was a great way for us to end our evening knowing he was safe and where he needed to be.

Dear Brother & Sister Normandin,

It was a pleasure to meet and spend time with your son, Elder Normandin. He arrived today, on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 to the Arizona Phoenix Mission, as part of a group of 23 new missionaries. We are thrilled to have him here and are excited to serve with him. Attached are a couple of photos for you.

Your missionary spent time at the mission office today, meeting some of our wonderful senior couples who work so hard to keep the mission running smoothly. They then had a socially distanced dinner at the church with President and Sister Eyre. Tomorrow they will go back to the church building to meet their companions and spend a couple of hours at an orientation with President and Sister Eyre and the Assistants...then off to their areas to begin the work of spreading the good news of the gospel!

Welcome To The MTC

This Blog has been created to keep all of us updated on Elder Normandin as he spends his time in the Phoenix Arizona Mission for the next 2 years.

Elder Normandin started his Mission on October 28th with Home MTC. He spent 3 weeks at home learning online all about being a missionary, which was a challenge at times. It was also a blessing because our family and close friends got to watch him grow and learn with him.

Elder Normandin left for his Mission on Tuesday, November 17th. He traveled to Phoenix Arizona where he met up with his Mission President and his wife, along with the other 22 new missionaries.

Elder Normandin has his preparation day or P-Day every Monday. That is his day to reach out through email to all of his friends and family. You are allowed to email him or message him on Facebook anytime but he can only respond on his P-Day.  The best way to contact Elder Normandin is through his email zachary.normandin@missionary.org
